Gliding International Nov Dec 2019 FOR ALL GLIDING COUNTRIES EXCEPT AUSTRALIA (?) The Australian gliding movement seems to have caught the rest of our gliding world sleeping. We have long been an advocate for the use of Piper Pawnees as the ideal tow plane, but only if fitted with a V8 car motor. Australia has approved the conversion, provided the conversion is for a dedicated Tow-aircraft. The rest of the world - Get Your Civil Aviation to get their act into gear and allow such features to be as part of your gliding scene. The conversion is not expensive, the tow performance exceptionable, the running cost will bring tears to your eyes, but best of all, maintenance is nothing to very very small. The Australian version have now be around for over 15 years and their record simply “amazing.”
